    МОВНА ВЕРБАЛІЗАЦІЯ КОНЦЕПТУ WORK В МУЛЬТИЛІНГВАЛЬНІЙ ФРАЗЕОЛОГІЧНІЙ КАРТИНІ СВІТУ

    Contemporary linguistics shows great interest to interrelations between the process of thinking and actual communication. The present article deals with cognitive linguistics through the prism of which linguistic representation of the concept WORK in the British English and German phraseological worldviews is revealed. The topicality of the research is conditioned by many factors, such as the insufficient number of works on this narrow topic in both foreign and national scientific literature, high interest towards interrelations between cognitive processes and the language, and cultural proximity of the two languages the phraseological worldviews of which are studied. During the research, various scientific methods have been used. The most essential are sociolinguistic, quantitative, descriptive and comparative ones. Practical material searched out from a number of lexicographical sources was distributed and described according to the frame method suggested by M. Alefirenko. The results of the research demonstrate both common features and differences of the concept WORK perception by British and German people. The article may be of particular interest for those studying cognitive linguistics, the British English and/or German languages, British and/or German verbalization of the units through, as well as for teachers and students of tertiary education institutions.Современное языкознание демонстрирует повышенный интерес ко взаимосвязи между процессам мышления и непосредственным процессом общения. Данная статьясвязана с когнитивной лингвистикой, сквозь призму которой раскрывается лингвистическая репрезентация концепта WORK в британской английской и немецкой фразеологической картинах мира. Актуальность данного исследования обусловлена многими факторами, такими как недостаточное количество работ, посвящённых этой узкой теме в отечественном и зарубежном научном процессе, высокий интерес ко взаимосвязи между когнитивными процессами и языком, а также культурной близостью двух языков, чьи фразеологические картины мира изучаются. Во время исследования были использованы разнообразные научные методы. Наиболее весомыми из них являются социолингвистический, количественный, дескриптивный и компаративный. Практический материал, отобранный с помощью лексикографических источников, был распределён и описан по методу фреймового анализа, разработанному М. Алефиренко. Результаты данного исследования демонстрируют общие и различные черты восприятия концепта WORK британским и немецким народами. Статья может представлять интерес для изучающих когнитивную лингвистику, британский английский и/или немецкий языки, особенности вербализации концептов в британском и/или немецком менталитете, атакже для преподавателей и студентов высших учебных заведений.Сучасне мовознавство демонструє підвищений інтерес до взаємозв’язку між процесами мислення та безпосереднім процесом спілкування. Дана стаття пов’язана із ког-нітивною лінгвістикою, крізь призму якої розкривається лінгвістична репрезентація концепту WORK у британській англійській та німецькій фразеологічних картинах світу. Актуальність даного дослідження зумовлена багатьма факторами, наприклад, недостатньою кількістю робіт з цієї вузької теми у вітчизняному та закордонному науковому процесі, високим інтересом до взаємозв’язку між когнітивними процесами та мовою, а також культурною близькістю двох мов, чиї фразеологічні картини світу вивчаються. Протягом дослідження було використано різноманітні наукові методи. Найбільш вагомими з них є соціолінгвістичний, кількісний, описовий та компаративний. Практичний матеріал, зібраний за допомогою лексикографічних джерел, був розподілений та описаний за методом фреймового аналізу, запропонованим М. Алефіренко. Результати даного дослідження демонструють спільні та відмінні риси сприйняття концепту WORK британським та німецьким народами. Стаття може представляти інтерес для тих, хто вивчає когнітивну лінгвістику, британську англійську та/або німецьку мови, особливості вербалізації концептів у британському та/або німецькому менталітеті, а також для викладачів та студентів вищих навчальних закладів

    The purpose of the article is to review and arrange according to the specified criteria nominative means of expressing the concept of TECHNOLOGY in the context of the English-speaking, French-speaking and German-speaking world picture; coverage of nominative features; identification of a different and common character to determine a comprehensive idea of the expression of the concept of TECHNOLOGY in the context of the English-speaking, French-speaking and German-speaking picture of the world. The main problem of modern linguistics is the study of the relationship of language and thinking to language and culture, due to the fact that language is the founder of culture. The main attention is paid to the study of the structure of the language system in connection with the consciousness of a person, his worldview and spiritual life; specifics of speech behavior of different peoples. The concept appears as the key and most relevant unit of research in the context of cognitive linguistics.The concept of TECHNOLOGY represents a complex of socially significant ideas of a person about the process of his relations with various objects of reality. Similar concepts consolidate the intellectual space of the respective era, largely determining the nature of thinking and axiological relations of its representatives. Concepts as elements of consciousness are completely independent of speech, and language means convey only part of the concept with their meanings, which is confirmed by the existence of many different synonyms, definitions and descriptions of the same concept.Метою статті є огляд та упорядкування за визначеними критеріями номінативних засобів вираження концепту TECHNOLOGY в контексті англомовного ,французькомовного та німецькомовного картині світу ; висвітлення особливостей номінативних ; виявлення різного та спільного характеру для визначення цілесного уявлення про вираження концепту TECHNOLOGY в контексті англомовної , французькомовної та німецькомовної картини світу. Головною проблемою сучасного мовознавства є дослідження співвідношення мови та мислення до мови та культури, через те що мова є основоположником культури. Основна увага приділяється вивченню будови мовної системи у зв’язку зі свідомістю людини, її світоглядом та духовним життям; специфіці мовленнєвої поведінки різних народів. Концепт постає ключовою і найбільш актуальною одиницею досліджень у контексті когнітивної лінгвістики.Концепт Technology репрезентує комплекс соціально значимих уявлень людини про процес її взаємин з різними об'єктами реальності. Подібні концепти консолідують розумовий простір відповідної епохи, у значній мірі визначаючи характер мислення й аксіологічних відносин її представників. Концепти як елементи свідомості абсолютно незалежні від мовлення, а мовні засоби передають лише частину концепту з їх значеннями, що підтверджується існуванням безлічі різноманітних синонімів, визначень і описів одного й того ж концепту

    The Digital Platform Otto.de: A Case Study of Growth, Complexity, and Generativity

    We analyze the growth, complexity, and generativity of the digital platform Otto.de, a revelatory case of a large German company that has opened up its internal IT platform to outside developers. We find indication for a superlinear growth pattern fueled by external developers and the introduction of microservices as well as the emergence of a structural separation within the platform. Furthermore, our research shows ways to explain the generativity of a digital platform based on the attention and activity received

    Creating communities of practice for fostering second language learning in people in crisis

    This paper describes two volunteer-based nonprofit initiatives, COMMON and Speak Up For Peace, which originated as a response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of the Russian Federation of Ukraine. The initiatives function as communities of practice that provide free online foreign language instruction to people in crisis (predominantly Ukrainian refugees). We conducted an online survey in a subset of language instructors (N = 75) and participating people in crisis (N = 102) with the goals 1) to assess the effectiveness of provided language instruction, 2) to gain a better understanding of the participating learners’ and teachers’ experiences and attitudes towards their learning and teaching, respectively, 3) to identify the main challenges and issues that learners and teachers face while participating in the projects, and 4) to gauge the viability of these and similar volunteer-based language projects for people in crisis and refugees in the future. The survey revealed a significant improvement in proficiency and motivation of participating people in crisis to learn a new language. Additionally, participating in the projects was associated with overall positive emotional and psychological benefits, for both learners and teachers. Among the most common issues related to learning and teaching in the context of the projects were student absenteeism and attrition, work balance, and teacher training. Overall, the study revealed interesting insights about perceived attitudes toward learning and teaching in students and instructors, respectively. It may be of interest to educators, language instructors and policymakers working with refugee groups and people in crisis

    This bachelor thesis focuses on the identification of key preferences and needs of IT professionals in the Czech Republic and their impact on job satisfaction and motivation. The aim of the thesis is to provide an overview of the requirements of IT professionals and to propose recommendations for employers in the area of attracting and retaining employees. The study is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The first part of the thesis focuses on the history and development of the IT industry, including an analysis of the Czech IT labour market. Based on a literature review, basic concepts are defined and insights into the current needs and preferences of IT employees are provided. The sec-ond part of the thesis focuses on conducting quantitative research on the needs and preferences of IT workers in the Czech Republic. The preferences and needs of IT employees were examined from different perspectives, such as work environment and organization of work processes, company cul-ture, compensation and benefit provision, and job search. Furthermore, based on the findings, rec-ommendations for IT employers were proposed. This paper provides a complex view of the needs of IT employees and can serve as a basis for further research and discussion in the IT field.Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci klíčových preferencí a potřeb IT profesionálů v České republice a jejich vliv na pracovní spokojenost a motivaci. Cílem práce je poskytnout přehled o požadavcích IT odborníků a navrhnout doporučení pro zaměstnavatele v oblasti získávání a udržení zaměstnanců. Studie je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V první části práce je pozornost věnována historii a vývoji IT odvětví, včetně analýzy českého IT trhu práce. Na základě literárního zkoumání jsou vymezeny základní pojmy a poskytován pohled na současné potřeby a preference IT zaměstnanců. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na provádění kvantitativního výzkumu potřeb a prefer-encí IT pracovníků v České republice. Byly zkoumány preference a potřeby IT zaměstnanců z různých perspektiv, jako jsou pracovní prostředí a organizace pracovních procesů, firemní kultura, odměňování a poskytování benefitů, a hledání nového zaměstnání. Dále na základě zjištění byla nav-ržena doporučení pro zaměstnavatele v oblasti IT. Tato práce poskytuje komplexní pohled na potřeby IT zaměstnanců a může sloužit jako podklad pro další výzkum a diskusi v oblasti IT

    We study the growth, complexity, and generativity of a digital platform—Otto.de. Through a longitudinal analysis of the company’s 65 GitHub open source repositories over a period of 6.5 years, we find a) support for a superlinear growth pattern, b) a structural split in the platform into two clusters, and c) indication that more active repositories will be more generative and in turn more popular. These findings have implications for scholars studying platform evolution as well as for companies opening up their internal IT platforms

    Development of Bioactive Scaffolds for Orthopedic Applications by Designing Additively Manufactured Titanium Porous Structures: A Critical Review

    We overview recent findings achieved in the field of model-driven development of additively manufactured porous materials for the development of a new generation of bioactive implants for orthopedic applications. Porous structures produced from biocompatible titanium alloys using selective laser melting can present a promising material to design scaffolds with regulated mechanical properties and with the capacity to be loaded with pharmaceutical products. Adjusting pore geometry, one could control elastic modulus and strength/fatigue properties of the engineered structures to be compatible with bone tissues, thus preventing the stress shield effect when replacing a diseased bone fragment. Adsorption of medicals by internal spaces would make it possible to emit the antibiotic and anti-tumor agents into surrounding tissues. The developed internal porosity and surface roughness can provide the desired vascularization and osteointegration. We critically analyze the recent advances in the field featuring model design approaches, virtual testing of the designed structures, capabilities of additive printing of porous structures, biomedical issues of the engineered scaffolds, and so on. Special attention is paid to highlighting the actual problems in the field and the ways of their solutions

    Targeted Blood Plasma Proteomics and Hemostasis Assessment of Post COVID-19 Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction

    The molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular complications after the SARS-CoV-2 infection remain unknown. The goal of our study was to analyze the features of blood coagulation, platelet aggregation, and plasma proteomics in COVID-19 convalescents with AMI. The study included 66 AMI patients and 58 healthy volunteers. The groups were divided according to the anti-N IgG levels (AMI post-COVID (n = 44), AMI control (n = 22), control post-COVID (n = 31), and control (n = 27)). All participants underwent rotational thromboelastometry, thrombodynamics, impedance aggregometry, and blood plasma proteomics analysis. Both AMI groups of patients demonstrated higher values of clot growth rates, thrombus size and density, as well as the elevated levels of components of the complement system, proteins modifying the state of endothelium, acute-phase and procoagulant proteins. In comparison with AMI control, AMI post-COVID patients demonstrated decreased levels of proteins connected to inflammation and hemostasis (lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, C4b-binding protein alpha-chain, plasma protease C1 inhibitor, fibrinogen beta-chain, vitamin K-dependent protein S), and altered correlations between inflammation and fibrinolysis. A new finding is that AMI post-COVID patients opposite the AMI control group, are characterized by a less noticeable growth of acute-phase proteins and hemostatic markers that could be explained by prolonged immune system alteration after COVID-19

    Spectrum of Genes for Non-GJB2-Related Non-Syndromic Hearing Loss in the Russian Population Revealed by a Targeted Deafness Gene Panel

    Hearing loss is one of the most genetically heterogeneous disorders known. Over 120 genes are reportedly associated with non-syndromic hearing loss (NSHL). To date, in Russia, there have been relatively few studies that apply massive parallel sequencing (MPS) methods to elucidate the genetic factors underlying non-GJB2-related hearing loss cases. The current study is intended to provide an understanding of the mutation spectrum in non-GJB2-related hearing loss in a cohort of Russian sensorineural NSHL patients and establish the best diagnostic algorithm. Genetic testing using an MPS panel, which included 33 NSHL and syndromic hearing loss (SHL) genes that might be misdiagnosed as NSHL genes, was completed on 226 sequentially accrued and unrelated patients. As a result, the molecular basis of deafness was found in 21% of the non-GJB2 NSHL cases. The total contribution pathogenic, and likely pathogenic, variants in the genes studied among all hereditary NSHL Russian patients was 12%. STRC pathogenic and likely pathogenic, variants accounted for 30% of diagnoses in GJB2-negative patients, providing the most common diagnosis. The majority of causative mutations in STRC involved large copy number variants (CNVs) (80%). Among the point mutations, the most common were c.11864G>A (p.Trp3955*) in the USH2A gene, c.2171_2174delTTTG (p.Val724Glyfs*6) in the STRC gene, and c.107A>C (p.His36Pro) and c.1001G>T (p.Gly334Val) in the SLC26A4 gene. Pathogenic variants in genes involved in SHL accounted for almost half of the cases with an established molecular genetic diagnosis, which were 10% of the total cohort of patients with non-GJB2-related hearing loss
